Distribution Comments:
Silver Peak Obsidian occurs as float nodules in Clayton Valley along SR 265 in the bottom of Big Smoky Valley and Fish Lake Valley, Esmeralda County, Nevada.  Geochemically identical to Queen Valley Obsidian with the exception of an inverse Fe / Mg values.  Queen Valley Obsidian also occurs in Fish Lake Valley.   Commonly included with the Cave Springs Obsidian, but this is a much higher quality obsidian than the Cave Springs outcropping and is geochemically different.
