Roberts Mountain Chert is associated with the Roberts Mountains Formation occurring as lenses, nodules, and layers with outcroppings in the Roberts Mountains of Lander County, Nevada.  Other outcroppings occur in the Toquima Range, Toiyabe Range, the Goat Window area of the Shoshone Range, Monitor Range, Hot Creek Range, Reveille Range, Sulphur Springs Range, Bootstrap area of the Tuscarora Mountains, southern Independence Range, Carlin - Pinon Range, Pequop Mountains, and the Snake Mountains of Nevada.
