Patton Chert is associated with the Patton Limestone Member of the Greenbrier Limestone Formation of southeastern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia.  Primarily occurs as nodules in Giles County, Virginia to Washington County, Virginia and northward to the head of the Greenbrier River in Pocahontas County, West Virginia.
