Los Vidrios Obsidian is associated with Sierra Pinacate Volcanics occurring as marekanites / nodules (up to 7 cm) in the rhyolite domes along the Rio Sonoytta about 30 north of the Puerto Penasco in northwestern Sonora Mexico.  Secondary sources are found throughout the Rio Sonoita River south at at least Sierra Blanca.
