Lake Valley Chert is associated with the Tierra Blanca Member of the Lake Valley Limestone Formation of New Mexico.  Primarily occurring as nodules in Lake Valley, Sierra County, New Mexico.  Exposure also occur in the Percha Creek area of the Sacramento Mountains, Bear Mountains in Grant County, North Crooks Range in Luna County, in the Basin and Range province and the Orogrande Basin of New Mexico.
