"Wood grain" and rings are present in the material. The outer
cortex ranges from chalky whites to pale yellows.

Eastern Region Petrified Wood is associated with the Langford Formation, Absaroka Volcanic Supergroup of Yellowstone. Primarily found
in the Eastern Region of Yellowstone including Lake Butte and along the
streams and lakes in the eastern region of Yellowstone.
