Devils Gate Chert is associated with the Devils Gate Limestone Formation of Nevada.  Primary outcroppings of Devils Gate Formation occur in the Mahogany Hills, Carlin Pinon Range, Pancake Range, Hot Creek Range, and the Ruby Mountains.  Chert is most common in the Sulphur Springs Range and southern Diamond Mountains.
