Cod Island Chert

Description of Physical Characteristics:

Color:  Grayish to dark gray or grayish blue is seen in both the Cad Island Chert and Ramah Chert.  Cod Island Chert may range to yellowish to green gray or deep sea green which is not common in Ramah Chert.  Iron staining and black inclusions may be present.

Texture: 
Fine grain

Luster: Dull and waxy

Translucency:  Opaque to semi-translucent in thin flakes.
