Color:
Grayish to dark gray or grayish blue is seen in both the Cad Island
Chert and Ramah Chert. Cod Island Chert may range to yellowish to
green gray or deep sea green which is not common in Ramah Chert. Iron
staining and black inclusions may be present.
Texture: Fine grain
Luster: Dull and waxy
Translucency: Opaque to semi-translucent
in thin flakes.

Cod Island Formation, Mugsford Group of Labrador occurring along the shoreline in the Mugsford region of
Northern Labrador, Canada Occurs on Cod Island and Grimmington
Island.
