Color:  Cid Meta-Mudstone is a thinly laminated tuffaceous argillite mudstone ranging from a bluish gray to a greenish gray.

Texture: 
Medium to fine grain

Luster: Dull to waxy

Translucency: Opaque

Silica Fabrics / Fossils:  Made up of 75% quartz and feldspar, 15 to 20% sericite, and trace amounts of chlorite, epidote, pyrite, sulfide, and biotite.

Cid Meta-Mudstone is associated with the Cid Formation of the Albemarle Group of North Carolina.  Occurring as beds, primary outcroppings occur at the Jacobs Creek Quarry, but has other outcroppings throughout Davidson, Stanly, Cabarrus, and Anson Counties from Denton to Jacobs Creek, North Carolina.
