Cedar Mesa Chert is associated with the Cedar Mesa Sandstone Member of the Cutler Formation of southeastern Utah.  Primarily occurs in cavities shaped like corals 1 to 8 inches thick along the San Juan River, on the mesas between Comb Wash and Clay Hill Crossing, Lime Creek Valley, Dark Canyon, Fable Canyon, Beef Basin, and Cottonwood Canyon, San Juan County, Utah.
