Butterscotch Chert is named for the Butterscotch Quarry in the Wylie Mountains southeast of Van Horn Texas.  It is associated with a limestone formation, but the name of the limestone formation is not mentioned / known so the proper name was not included here.  There is mention that similar material also outcrops in the Needle Peak area of Pinto Canyon of the Chinati / Vieja Mountains which may be the same formation and same material.
