Anvil Ferruginous Chert is associated with the Anvil Ferruginous Chert Member of the Ironwood Iron Formation of Northwestern Michigan.  Primary outcroppings occur at the Old Geneva Mine and Colby Hill in Michigan.  Named for Anvil Mine east of Bessemer, Michigan.
