Description of Physical Characteristics:
Color:
Annadel Obsidian ranges from a grayish black to a brownish black or
black. Banding is commonly present and rarely reddish brown
streaking may occur. Commonly has a "dirty" appearance.
Texture: Fine grain
Luster: Most commonly has a matte or "greasy"
luster, but may vary to vitreous.
Translucency: Opaque to slightly translucent

Annadel Obsidian is associated with the lower member of the Sonoma
Volcanics as small nodules, but cam measure upto 30 cm, within a matrix
of deeply weathered brecciated perlite in Annadel North Coastal Range, Sonoma
County, California and eroding in Santa Rosa Creek.
