Puckett is an avocational archaeologist who served as President to the Central States Archaeological Society. He conducted studies into the archaeology of Alabama. This type was named in his personally published guide to projectile points of the Tennessee River Basin, but has no professional references to this type. There are many collector type references, this is considered a collector type.
Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium to large triangular stemmed point with an elliptical cross section. The blade varies from excurvate to straight. Re-sharpening of this point may leave serrations on the blade and the blade is commonly asymmetrical with one edge being straighter than the other edge. The shoulders are asymmetrical with one shouldered being more prominent and generally ranging from slightly barbed to horizontal and the other shouldered being more reduced and ranging from horizontal to having an upward angle. The stem is straight with a base that may vary from slightly convex to slightly concave. This point has as random flaking pattern.
