Outline is Representative of Size and Shape:

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a broad medium to large ovoid shaped blade with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is excurvate and the blade is usually one half the width as it is in length with the widest part of the blade being about the half way point.  The base is truncated and may range from slightly convex to slightly concave.  This point is formed with broad percussion flaking and has limited, if present, finished with pressure flaking around the edges and base forming a random flaking pattern with primarily percussion flaking.

Size Measurements:  Total Length - 55 to 204 mm (average 100 mm),  Blade Width - 30 to 100 mm (Typically the width is 1/2 the length)
Distribution:
Distribution Comments:
This point is primarily found in  west central Illinois and into central Missouri.  Frequency decreases into the lower Missouri River Valley into the mid Mississippi River Valley and the Illinois River Valley.  This point is also been reported in the Ohio River Valley and into the Tennessee River Valley.

Similar Points:
Adena Blade, North Bi-Face, Tear Drop
Related / Associated Points:
Harrison Turkeytail, Hebron Turkeytail, Fulton Turkeytail
Additional Comments:

This blade is most commonly associated with burials and found with Turkeytail type points.

It has been suggested that this may be a preform for the Turkeytail type points because of the primarily percussion flaking and general lack of fine pressure flaking on the edges (Lloyd Schroder, 2013 W18).
