O'Leno Triangle
Cluster: Late Woodland to Early Mississippian Triangle Cluster
Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a broad thick medium (1.25 to 2 inches) equilateral to isosceles triangle with an elliptical cross section.  The blade varies from excurvate to straight and may range from symmetrical to asymmetrical.  Many examples have beveled edges, but lacks any serrations.  The base may range from straight to slightly convex and lacks any basal thinning.  This point has a random flaking pattern.  The workmanship may range from fine workmanship to crudely made.
Size Measurements:

Total Length - 23 to 55 mm,  Width - 12 to 28 mm,  Thickness - 4 to 12 mm.
Commonly Utilized Material:
Additional Comments:

These were probably used as knifes.  Many examples have beveled blades and the blade is asymmetrical due to the re-sharpening process (Granger and Granger, 2013).

Bullen (1975) feels that older blanks and triangular knifes are commonly confused for these points.  He notes that those are usually larger and longer with an asymmetrical blade while these points are smaller with a symmetrical blade similar to Yadkin point, but has a straight to slightly convex base unlike the Yadkin's concave base.
