This is a large broad triangular basal notch point with a flattened cross section. The blade is primarily excurvate. Re-sharpened examples may have a recurvate blade. The shoulders are barbed and usually extend down to the base of the point. The stem is primarily straight, but may be slightly contracting or slightly expanding. The basal notches often have a V appearance. The base is straight. This point has a random flaking pattern.

This point is primarily found west central Illinois and into eastern Missouri.
Perino was a well-respected self-taught archeologist who was the founder of the Illinois State Archeological Society. This point was named in a professional publication and has limited professional references to this type, but has many collector type references. This is a valid type.
