Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a
thin small to point with a flattened cross section. The blade is primarily straight and may be serrated or notched on one or both blades. This point has parallel notches with horizontal shoulders. The stem is expanded with the ears expanding forming a straight line with the blade. One or both ears may be notched. The base may range from slightly concave to having a basal notch. The flaking
is random and is commonly high quality and well made.

40 mm, Stem Length - 8 to 12 mm, Width at Shoulders - 8 to
15, Neck Width - 5 to 10 mm, Notch Depth - 2 to 3 mm,
Basal Width - 12 to 20 mm

This point are found with the heaviest concentrations in the Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas region. This point may be found with less frequency in the other highlighted areas.
Additional Comments:
The points in this cluster are similar to the points in the Woodland/Mississippian triangular cluster, except these points have side notches (Morrow, 1984). Both types of points are
noted for being thin and in the shape of an isosceles or equilateral triangle. Points in this cluster are noted for a single or multiple parallel notches in the blade. The blade may be serrated for points
in this cluster (W2).
All points in this cluster are Mississippian or Mississippian related complexes. with primary distributions in the Mississippi River Valley. See Distribution Comments for detailed
