Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium to large lanceolate stemmed point with an elliptical cross section. The blade is long and narrow and has an excurvate shape with the tip curving in, becoming almost parallel on the edges, and
curving back in towards the shoulders. The shoulders are horizontal. The stem ranged from straight to slightly contracting with a straight to slightly convex base. Basal and hafting region
grinding is present. The flaking pattern may vary from horizontal, oblique, or random.

120 mm, Stem Length - 13 to 23 mm, Blade Width - 14 to 26
mm, Stem Width -8 to 14 mm

This point is most commonly associated with the Flint Hills of Kansas and into the Osage Cuestas. This point may be found into central and eastern Nebraska.

Only collectors sources were able to be found regarding this point. The Smithsonian Museum does have points labeled Hollenberg points in it's catalog, however, they are associated
with Besant, Pelican Lake, and Duncan points which is not consistent with this point. This point was probably named for the Hollenberg Pony Express site in Kansas. This site is a middle to late Archaic
site which is associated with the Munker's Creek phase and Munker's Creek Projectile Points were found at this site.
Collectors sources have claimed that this is a variation of the Eden type point and that the points must have early flaking patterns in order to be considered this type.
