Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium triangular contracting stem point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is short, commonly shorter than the stem with an excurvate to straight blade.  The shoulders range from horizontal to an upward right hand angle.  The stem is long, as long as or longer than the blade, and contracting with a convex base and commonly grinding is present.  This type is formed using percussion flaking with the pressure flaking used to finish shaping and sharpening the blade.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Length - 38 to 59 mm (average 48 mm), Stem Length - 15 to 38 mm (average 27 mm),  Blade Width - 26 to 33 mm (average 30 mm), Stem Width at Neck - 15 to 27 mm (average 20 mm), Thickness - 6 to 10 mm (average 8 mm)

This type is thought to have been developed in central Mexico and has been found in the Valley of Mexico, Tehuacan Valley, Cueva de la Nopalera, Hidalgo, and southern Tamaulipas and throughout Hidalgo Mexico.  MacNeish feels that this type extends into southern Texas.
