Carlson is a distinguished anthropologist and professor for the Department of Anthropology, University of Washington. Carlson has conducted extensive studies into the archaeology of Canada. This point was identified in a professional publication. Currently only two examples have been recovered from the southwestern Yukon ice patches. More research is needed on this type. This is considered a provisional type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium to large expanding stem to side notch triangular point with an elliptical cross section. The blade is excurvate with shoulders that vary from horizontal to having an upward angle. The stem is expanding with a base that ranges from straight to slightly convex. This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:
Length - 27 to 74 mm (average 43 to 63 mm), Blade Width - 21 to 31mm (average 22 to 26 mm)

Carlson (2011) notes that these may represent the newest Atlatl points before converting the arrow points. Similar side notch arrow points differ in that these are generally cruder and thicker than the newer arrow points.
