Additional Comments:
This site was dredged up by a scallop dredger in the Chesapeake Bay in 1970. Along with this point, a mastodon tusk was also dredged up in the same area. Because both artifacts were dredged up together, it is assumed that they are associated, however what stratified levels the two artifacts came from cannot be certain. Graf, Ketron, and Waters (2014) state that the characteristics of this point are consistent with Solutrean type points. They state that eleven other bi-points have been found in the Chesapeake watershed, but dates have not been able to be obtained due to the displacement of the sites. A similar point was found in Maine (Spiess, 2012), but it appears to be dated to early Paleo-Indian cultural association and does not have an obvious Solutrean connection.

Age Details:
Dating on this point is based on the date when the water levels would have been low enough for the site to have been out of water and on the banks of the Susquehanna River and the bay which is estimated to be 14,500 B.P. A mastodon tusk was also dredged up from the same area and yielded a date of 27,440 +/- 394 B.P.
