Giddings was a distinguished anthropologist and professor of Anthropology at  Brown University.  Giddings served as one of the first associated of the Arctic Institute and was an expert in the archaeology of Alaska and the Arctic.  This point was named in his study of the Choris culture and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a medium lanceolate to pentagonal point with a flattened to thin elliptical cross section.  The blade is excavate with the tip curving in becoming parallel and curving back in towards the base.  The base may vary from straight to slightly concave with rounded basal corners.  This point has a random go parallel flaking pattern.

This tradition emerged from the earlier Denbigh Flint Complex (Sturtevant, 1978). It is thought that this culture evolved into the later Norton culture (Bacon, 1975).
