No professional references to this type were found. This type was discussed in the Smithsonian in the early 1900's and was based on large ceremonial type blades associated with the Caddoan Culture. This type is highly references as a true type in collector sources. This is considered a collectors type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin large to very large ovoid blade with a flattened cross section. The blade is excurvate, curving in at the tip and curving back in towards the base. The blade is serrated with the serrations commonly extending around the tip. The base may vary from pointed to convex. This blade is generally well made and has a random flaking pattern.

Many examples of this type were reported to be part of the Caldwell Collection and was said that they were recovered from a cache from the Spiro Mounds. No other examples were reported from the Spiro Mounds in professional publications (Wagers, 2011).
