Holmer was a well-respected pioneering Anthropologist who as a driving force at the Department of Anthropology at the University of Utah.  Weder is a distinguished Anthropologist who has conducted extensive studies on Great Basin anthropology and serves as president for the Utah Statewide Archaeological Society.  This type was named in a professional publication and has many professional references.  This is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin small triangular side notch point with a flattened cross section.  The blade may vary from straight to slightly convex.  Parallel notches enter the blade forming horizontal shoulders and commonly a narrow neck.  Many examples have a wide circular notch which will form a shoulder that is slightly barbed and a stem that is curving up towards the shoulders.  The stem is expanded with a straight to convex base.  The basal area is usually large in regard to the point. This point has a random flaking pattern.

This type is thought to be a Great Salt Lake Fremont variant of the Desert Side Notch point (Justice, 2002).

This point is primarily found in the Bear River region of Utah and into southern Idaho into the Snake River plain..  This point may be found south into the lower Sevier River drainage and Sevier Lake Bed are a of Utah and into northeastern Nevada.
