Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:

This is a small to medium triangular expanding stem point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade varies from straight to slightly excurvate.  The shoulders are barbed that may extend one quarter to one half the way down the stem.  The stem ranges from short to medium and is slightly expanding with a base that varies from straight to concave.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Size Measurements:  Total Length - 45 to 95 mm (average 55 to 65 mm),  Stem Length - 10 to 17 mm,  Blade Width - 20 to 40 mm,  Neck Width - 10 to 20 mm (average 13 to 18 mm),  Basal Width - 15 to 25 mm

















































Distribution Comments:
This point is primarily found in Missouri and into western Illinois, eastern Kansas, southern Iowa, and northern Arkansas.

This point is similar to the Kampsville point.  However, the Kampsville point has larger flaking and is made from material that lacks the heat treatment used for manufacturing this point.  The Kampsville point has a straight to convex base while this point has a straight to concave base.
