Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a thin medium (2.25 to 4 inch) triangular point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is excurvate, curving in at the tip, becoming widest at the mid point to the bottom third of the point, and only slightly curving back in towards the base.  The base is deeply concave with sharp basal corners.  This point has a random flaking pattern.
Size Measurements:

Total Length - 29 to 82 mm,  Blade Width - 17 to 36 mm,  Basal Concavity - 3 to 6 mm
Commonly Utilized Material:
Additional Comments:

These points are similar to the newer Whitehorse Lake points.  The primary difference is the basal concavity depth, the base is deeply concave of the Annie Lake points and they have sharper basal corners while the Whitehorse points are not as deeply concave and has rounder basal corners (Greer, 1993).

At Annie Lake, this point is found in a distinct stratified context between layers containing Northern Archaic Tradition side-notched points (specifically designated as Little Arm Phase, lower layer, and Taye Lake Phase, upper layer). It is speculated that the presence of the Annie Lake points in such an “inserted” deposition may indicate an incursion by another culture, possibly from the Northern Plains, subsequently replaced by the Taye Lake Phase.
