Krone published books regarding archeology and rock art in the El Paso region.  He named this point in The Artifact 14(2): 41-43, 1978.  This type has had many professional references and is considered a valid type.

Description of Physical Characteristics and Flaking Pattern:
This is a small to medium triangular expanding stemmed point with an elliptical cross section.  The blade is primarily narrow with straight edges, but may vary to incurvate with the blade flaring out at the shoulders.  The blade is always serrated.  The shoulders have short protruding barbs, but may be come horizontal on examples that have been re-sharpened reducing the blade.  The stem ranges from expanding to straight.  The base varies from straight to convex and may be unfinished.  The stem may have a bulbous appearance.  This point has a random flaking pattern.

Total Length -  20 to 55 mm (average 30 to 35 mm),  Stem Length - 6 to 10 mm,  Blade Width - 15 to 25 mm (average 21 mm),  Stem Width at Shoulders - 7 to 11 mm,  Basal Width - 9 to 16 mm,  Thickness - 5 to 9 mm

Moore (2015) notes that this may represent the same point that was discussed by Turner et al. in 2011 which they referred to as a Van Horn point.

This point is most commonly found in the geographical region near the town of Villa Ahumada in Mexico and into the Jornada region of northwestern Chihuahua Mexico and into the Trans Pecos region of Texas (primarily Culberson and Hudspeth counties)  and into southern New Mexico and southeastern Arizona.
