Trinity Obsidian is black with minor
inclusions. Phenocysts may appear elongated with banding common.
Texture: Fine grain
Luster: Ranges from a "greasy" appearance to
vitreous
Translucency: Semi-translucent with a gray
color with a golden brown tint being produced.

Trinity Obsidian is associated with the lower member of the Sonoma
Volcanics and occurs as nodules along the Alabazas Creek - Trinity Road
at an elevation of about 400 feet east of Highway 12, east Sonoma
Valley, Sonoma County, California.
