Summerville Chert is associated with the Summerville Formation of western Colorado and eastern Utah.  Primary outcroppings occur around Summerville Point, head of the Summerville Wash in the San Rafael Swell and in and Butler Wash, San Juan County, Utah.  Outcroppings of the Summerville Formation have been reported into the Zuni Mountains of New Mexico.
