Description of Physical Characteristics:

Color:  Ste. Genevieve Chert ranges from light to medium blue, gray, and black, to olive gray and yellowish gray. Light to dark gray concentric bands are common.  Bluish chalcedony inclusions may be present.

Notes:  Nodular Ste. Genevieve chert is smooth, commonly has faint concentric bands, and contains no fossil inclusions; bedded Ste.
