Rainbow Gardens Chert is associated with the Rainbow Gardens Member of the Horse Spring Formation or southeastern Nevada and northwestern Arizona in the Virgin Mountains extending from the Gale Hills in Bitter Springs Valley to the Grand Wash Cliffs.  Primary outcroppings occur in Cottonwood Wash, Lime Wash, Arizona and Overton Ridge, Nevada.
