Color:  Racine Chert ranges from a grayish white to a medium gray or bluish gray.  Mottling or streaks of bluish tints may be present .

Racine Chert is associated with the Racine Limestone Formation of southern Wisconsin and into northeastern Illinois.  Primary outcroppings occur in Waukesha County, Wisconsin and around Engadine, Mackinac County, Michigan.  Engadine Dolomite Formation was the name used for exposure near Engadine, Racine Limestone Formation has replaced that name.
