Owl Rock Chert is associated with the Owl Rock Member of the Chinle Formation of northeastern Arizona, west central New Mexico, and southeastern Utah.  Primarily occurs as nodules around Owl Rock, Monument Valley, Navajo County, Arizona and between Round Rock and Castle Butte.  Outcroppings have been reported in the Zuni Mountains.
