Obsidian Butte Obsidian is thought to have a primary source on Obsidian Butte, Pahute Mesa on Nellis Air Force Base (closed to public).  Obsidian float nodules have washed down the Tolicha Was and into the Sarcobatus Flats area in Nye County, Nevada.  Five geochemical groups found in this area.
