Murdock Mountain Chert is associated with the Murdock Mountain Limestone Formation of northwestern Utah.  Primarily occurs as beds and nodules on Thumb and Pinky Ridges and small ridges on the north end of Grayback Hills, Tooele County, Utah. Outcroppings also occur in the Leach Mountains of Nevada.
