Morrison is associated the Morrison Formation which extends from Wyoming and South Dakota to New Mexico.  Primary outcroppings are located in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming, the Black Hills, and the Laramie Range of Wyoming and the Chama River Valley west of Taos and Sangre de Cristo Range near Las Vegas, New Mexico.
