Lone Mountain Chert is associated with the Lone Mountain Dolomite Formation of Nevada.  Lone Mountain Chert most commonly occurs as abundant nodules in the Ruby Mountains, but outcroppings of the dolomite also occur in Hot Creek Range, Monitor Range, Fish Creek Range, Sulfur Springs Range, Diamond Mountains, northern Reveille Range, Carlin - Pinon Range, and the Buck and Bald Mountain area of Nevada.
