Lenoir Chert is associated with the Lenoir Limestone Formation of Tennessee, which overlies the Knox Formation, occurs as small nodules (not abundant)  with exposures  near Lenoir City, Philadelphia, and Friendsville, Tennessee.  Exposures occur in southwestern Virginia and northeastern Tennessee.  Formation reported in Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.  Lenoir Limestone grades into Lincolnshire Limestone in Virginia.
