Description of Physical Characteristics:

Color:  Lead Creek Chert Type II is an opaque, variegated with shades of medium to dark gray.  Patches or streaks of orange, tan, or gray are present.  White specks of fossils are also present.

Lead Creek Chert is associated with the Lead Creek Limestone formation.  Primary outcroppings are found in western and southern Indiana and into Kentucky and Ohio.   Lead Creek Type II is primarily found in Green County, Indiana.  Not primary outcroppings have been found.
