Kanawha Black Chert / Flint is associated with the Kanawha Formation, Pottsville Group of West Virginia.  Primary outcroppings occur in the Kanawha River valley in West Virginia.  It is most abundant in Boone, Clay, Fayette, Kanawha, Nicolas, and Webster counties, West Virginia.
