Jefferson Rhyolite has un unknown source, but thought to be from the rhyolite dikes on the ridges of Pliny Range.  Utilized material, and most abundant, occurs as large blocks of rhyolite distributed on the slopes of Pliny Range by glacial till most abundant along the Israel River, a tributary of the Connecticut River.
