Horse Mountain Agate is associated with the Hermitage Formation of west Tennessee.  Primary outcroppings are located west of Wartrace, Tennessee, Horse Mountain, Bedford County.  Outcroppings also reported southwest of Normandy Reservoir and along Philippi Creek.
