Hartville Uplift Chert is associated with the Hartville Formation of Wyoming and Nebraska,  Primary sources are in the Hartsville Wyoming in central eastern Wyoming and into northwestern Nebraska.  Sources extend from the Laramie Mountains to the North Platte River and from Guernsey to the south and Manville, Wyoming to the north,
