Color:  Harrodsburg chert ranges from commonly dark olive-brown to tan, although various shades of browns, tans, blues, and off-white have been noted.  Oolites form white speckles through the material

Texture:
Course to medium grain

Luster: Chalky to waxy

Silica Fabrics / Fossils: Highly fossiliferous including; bryozoans, brachipods, sponge spicules, crinoids and gastropods.

Patina:

Heat Treatment:  Heat treatment increases the hues of red and increases the luster.

Primary is associated with the Harrodsburg Limestone formation of the Sanders Group with outcroppings are located in Monroe and Lawrence County in Indiana.  Has been reported further south in areas associated with Harrodsburg Limestone.  Found into Kentucky
