Color:  Hamden Chert ranges from a light bluish gray to a gray, yellow to brown, or reddish brown.  Black and white specks of chalcedony filled vugs are present.

Hamden Chert is associated with the Allegheny formation of the Hamden member of Ohio.  Primary outcroppings are located along Raccoon Creek in Hocking County, Ohio.  Also found in Vinton County, Ohio
