Flint River Chert is associated with the Flint River Formation, Vicksburg Group of northwestern Florida, southeastern Alabama, southern Georgia, and southwestern South Carolina.  Primary outcroppings occur along the Flint River between Red Bluff above Bainbridge, Georgia and Hales Landing, and Allendale County, South Carolina bordering the Savannah River between Johnsons Landing and Cohens Bluff.
