Ely Springs Dolomite / Chert is associated with the Ely Springs Dolomite Formation of eastern Nevada with chert occurring as nodules.  Primary outcroppings occur in the Ely Springs Range near the Pioche region of Nevada.  Other outcroppings occur in the Pancake Range, Reveille Range, Hot Creek Range, and the Grant Range.
