Dacite is associated with lava flows, domes, dikes, sills, and phyroclastic debris.  It is found on the continental crust above subduction zones where a relatively young oceanic plate has melted below.  Dacite is found from California to British Columbia, from Montana into Mexico.  It is most commonly used for projectile points and tools in the Arrowstone Mountains of British Columbia.
