Curzon Chert

Description of Physical Characteristics:

Color:  Curzon chert is mottled and primary medium to light gray, but may range to a light yellow brown to a light olive brown or brownish gray.  Streaking and white to pale orange ovoid inclusions may be present

Texture: 
Medium to fine grain

Luster: Dull

Silica Fabrics / Fossils: Fusulinids, criniod stems, bryozoans, brachiopods, petecypods, gastropods, and ostracodes.

Patina:

Heat Treatment:  Heat treatment produces shades of pink and red.
